Welcome to the Learning Hub!
Old Moat learning Hub is part of a unique network of 9 voluntary and community hubs in South Manchester.
Each Hub is individual and flexible in order to meet the needs of the local people.
We work with a number of partner agencies such as the National Careers Service, Manchester Adult Education Services, Manchester College, Job Centre Plus, Connextions, Community and Cultural Services as well as South Manchester Regeneration Team and Southway Housing Trust.
The main focus of Old Moat Learning hub is to empower and inspire local resident’s and raise their aspirations. It is not just about formal education; it is a holistic approach to the acquiring of basic numeracy and literacy skills as well as life and pre-employment skills and addresses barriers to accessing more formal learning routes. We believe this approach provides better outcomes for our community.

Are you looking for work?
Old Moat Work Club is an excellent resource for local jobseekers. Working in partnership with the National Careers Service we offer practical help and impartial advice from our dedicated staff, mostly volunteers, at the Learning Hub Based at Old Moat Children’s Centre. All of our services are FREE to all jobseekers regardless of benefit status. We also serve people who are seeking a career change not just the unemployed. Jobseekers can come to us every Thursday for as long as they like, to access the services they feel shall benefit them the most rather than having to take up a prescribed menu of options. This makes our service unique – it is accessible, free, personal, flexible and friendly.
Get FREE one to one support at our work club. We can help with CVs, cover letters, application forms, e-mailing and using the internet to search and apply for vacancies. We also have up to date recruitment information and training opportunities. Volunteering information and placements will also be available to the public.
Old Moat Learning Hub is one of the voucher distributors for both the Fallowfield and Withington food banks.
If you or someone you know is in need of this service please contact Paula O’Reilly at Old Moat
Children’s Centre on 0161 4462131.
The food banks are a lifeline to many people within our community and are dependent on volunteers to help run them. If you would like more information on becoming a volunteer at one of the food banks then feel free contact either the foodbanks directly or alternatively Paula O'Reilly on 0161 4462131.

Yummy Mums & Dads Cookery Group
Yummy Mums and Dads is a cook and eat group. It focuses on improving the diet and cooking skills of pregnant women, parents with young children and their families,
while embracing Old Moat and Withington’s cultural diversity. The group explores an aspect of healthy eating before cooking an economical and healthy two course meal together that the group has chosen. We then sit round the table, along with the babies and children and enjoy the meal together. We also include the opportunity to gain an accredited Level one certificate in Healthy Eating and Special Diets.
The sessions are free and a crèche is available. For further details or to book on the next 12 week course please contact Paula on: 0161 446 2131
We are now a UK Online Centre and offer a basic computer course throughout the year.
We regret to announce that our funding for Baby Massage has now come to an end and unfortunately now have to charge for this session.
We are however working really hard to gain new funding and understand this is important to our parents at Community-Minded Ltd.
